What is PRP Facial Therapy - The Vampire Face-lift?

PRP Facial therapy, also known as The Vampire Face-Lift is an anti-wrinkle and volumising treatment that utilises a small amount of your own blood. PRP is commonly referred to in the media as Dracula Therapy or the Vampire Face Lift. This non-surgical, age defying anti-wrinkle and volumising treatment involves micro injections of your own platelets which are taken from your own blood, to rapidly stimulate the collagen production and cell migration, resulting in fresher, healthier, fuller and younger looking skin.

Although this procedure is relatively new in facial aesthetics, PRP has been extensively used as an effective treatment for sports injuries, diabetic ulcer treatment, and orthopaedics for around thirty years.

What does the treatment involve?

Prior to the procedure, a small amount of blood is taken from your arm by our qualified Phlebotomist, and placed into a centrifuge where it is spun in order to separate the different components. The platelets, which are the components of the blood known for being effective in repairing cells, are then injected into the chosen areas where they will smooth and plump up the skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and adding natural volume. When platelets are injected into the skin, they release different growth factors which stimulate your own cells. One cell type that is stimulated during the process is the fibroblast cell which creates collagen. Collagen is what gives our skin its youthful appearance. As we age, collagen is produced less and less (we naturally lose 1% every year from the day we are born) causing wrinkles and fine lines to appear on the surface and below the skin. Another cell stimulated during the process is the pre-adipocyte cell, which is a cell type that converts into a fat cell. This is especially important in the face to help fill out and smooth lines, adding volume to contour the face. PRP is an amazing advance in aesthetic treatments and can both delay and counteract these signs of ageing. PRP Facial Therapy can be combined with other aesthetic treatments including PDO Thread Lifting, Chemical Peels, Botox and Dermal Fillers. The overall results will leave your skin rejuvenated, lifted and brighten your complexion removing years from your appearance.
